Helpful Hints for Melting Wax

1. It is very important not to melt your wax over direct heat (except for the gel candlewax) because it is highly flammable. We recommend to melt your wax in a double boiler by placing your melting pot in a pan of boiling water about ¼ full.
2. Melt your wax slowly under low temperatures. Stir the wax periodically and as the wax melts, gradually add more wax to fill your melting pot.
3. We recommend to always use a thermometer when melting wax. It is very important to pour your wax at the right temperature. If the wax is too hot when poured, your candles may crack. If the wax is too cool when poured, your candles may become irregular.
4. Beeswax should be poured at a temperature between 150 and 170 degrees F. Paraffin should be poured at a temperature between 190 and 200 degrees F. Soy wax should be poured at a temperature between 155 and 165 degrees F. Crystallizing wax should be poured at a temperature between 160 and 180 degrees F. Gel wax should be poured at a temperature between 185 and 203 degrees F.
